NASA seeks industry proposals for private space stations
NASA is inviting US companies to submit detailed bids to design, build, and operate future commercial space stations that will support research, crew training, and other missions in low Earth orbit after the International Space Station retires. Final proposals are due December 8, with contracts expected to be awarded by spring 2027. The solicitation covers end-to-end space station and transportation services.
- Proposals must address station design, operations, and transport
- NASA aims to select at least two companies initially
- Contracts will be firm-fixed-price and multi-award
- Plan supports continued US crewed presence in orbit
