Cloudflare launches Monetization Gateway beta for AI agents
Cloudflare rolled out a closed beta of its Monetization Gateway, letting website and API owners charge AI agents or bots for per-use access. Instead of typical subscriptions, this tool uses microtransactions for resources such as data feeds or tools, aiming to match how AI agents actually consume online services. Early adopters are already testing it in production, and access requests are open now via Cloudflare's dashboard.
- Monetization Gateway is now in closed beta
- Payments use HTTP 402 Payment Required status codes
- Designed for microtransactions by AI agents
- Current models rely on subscriptions or bulk credits
- Businesses can now monetize per agent request
