Signal expands encrypted chat backups to iOS and desktop
Signal’s latest update brings end-to-end encrypted chat backups to iOS and desktop apps, rounding out a feature that’s now live on Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows. Users can pick between Signal-hosted or device-only backups, with all backups protected by recovery keys. iOS users can now also transfer directly between iPhones using an encrypted local connection. The update tightens media storage and backup controls, especially for paid users.
