TP-Link opens global preorders for Wi-Fi 8 router, skips US

TP-Link has started taking preorders for its first Wi-Fi 8 router, the Archer 8 Ultra, in the UK, Germany, Australia, and other markets—but not the US. The router uses Broadcom’s new chipset, packs 18 antennas, and covers up to 3,600 square feet. It’s priced at £669.99 for preorders in the UK, rising to £899.99 after launch. US sales are blocked by a lack of FCC approval.

Why it mattersWi-Fi 8 promises steadier, less interference-prone connections even as more devices go online. TP-Link's router is the first major Wi-Fi 8 device on sale, marking the start of next-generation home networking hardware—just not for Americans yet.
