Windows 11 revamps search with commands and Copilot integration
Microsoft is overhauling Windows 11's search, letting you type commands like 'mute,' 'switch to dark mode,' or 'dim my screen' right from the taskbar. The new search, built with WinUI 3, rolls out to testers now and is promised to run faster and use less memory. Copilot, Microsoft's AI assistant, is built in—its answers appear directly in search results.
- You can run system commands from the search box
- Copilot AI is built into search results
- Interface is faster and uses less memory
- Rollout to regular PCs begins this fall
- Planned ability to send texts via connected phones
